How does Xeomin work?
Xeomin is an FDA-approved prescription medication that blocks the muscle contractions that cause frown lines to form. Like other neurotoxins, it is injected into the muscle, where it binds to the nerve endings that supply these muscles, preventing the contractions that cause skin folds in the first place. As a result, lines and wrinkles in the treatment area are temporarily reduced or eliminated, giving you smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.

How is Xeomin uniquely purified?
Xeomin is made through a unique precision manufacturing process that isolates the therapeutic component of the molecule and removes the accessory proteins that don’t play an active role in treatment. That translates into a more purified neurotoxin. Studies have not been performed to determine whether the presence or absence of these unnecessary proteins has a long-term effect on safety or efficacy.
Am I a candidate for Xeomin® injections?
Adults with moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows) may be good candidates for treatment with Xeomin. It’s even being used as a means of “pre-juvenation” for younger adults in their 20s and 30s to prevent frown lines before they start. During your consultation at Atlanta Face & Body, Dr. Elizabeth and the Atlanta Face & Body staff will do a thorough evaluation and explain your options for treatment in detail to determine if Xeomin is right for you.
Is there any downtime needed with Xeomin injections?
Xeomin injections require no downtime following treatment. Once your injections are administered, you can resume your daily activities. However, we do ask that you refrain from lying flat for about 4 hours immediately following treatment and not exercise for the rest of the day. These are precautionary measures to ensure the product does not migrate from the injection site.
What results can I expect from Xeomin injections?
Many people begin to see visible smoothing in the treatment area as early as 3-4 days after injections. Optimal results most often occur at around the 30-day mark. Clinical trials have shown 3 months to be the typical duration of results, though individual results may vary depending on your own body chemistry. Some results have even been reported to last up to 6 months in some cases.
