How does a lip flip work?
The lip flip is a quick in-office treatment involving neurotoxins, such a Botox®, Xeomin®, or DAXXIFY®, injected just above your upper lip and around the corners of your mouth. These neuromodulators work to temporarily relax the specific muscles at the injection site, resulting in your upper lip subtly “rolling” forward and amplifying the natural shape of your lips without overemphasizing them for a more natural-looking effect. The procedure itself takes a mere 10 to 20 minutes to administer and requires no downtime, so it’s a great lip-enhancing treatment to get when spare time isn’t exactly easy to come by.

What can I expect after a lip flip treatment?
There’s no downtime required with a lip flip. You’ll be able to resume most of your daily activities right after your treatment, but your upper lip may feel somewhat numb and appear slightly swollen. These effects are generally mild and temporary in nature.
As far as post-procedure recommendations, we ask that you avoid smoking in the days after the procedure as it may increase the risk of infection. Also, you’ll want to refrain from rubbing or massaging your lips, as this can cause the neurotoxin to migrate from the strategic injection sites. It’s a good idea to try and sleep on your back for a few days as well to prevent your lips from pressing against your pillow.
What results can I expect with a lip flip?
Most patients begin noticing improvement with their upper lip in a few days following treatment with optimal improvement in about 10 to 14 days. Because only a small amount of neurotoxin is used for the injections, results start to fade in about 2 to 3 months (as opposed to slightly longer results when used to treat facial wrinkles). If you wish, you can maintain these results by electing periodic injections at the time results start to fade.
